What do you need?

  • A mushroom guidebook (e.g., "Mushrooms: The Natural and Human World of British Fungi") 

  • (Optional) Notebook or camera for notes/photos

How to do it.

1. Choose a Woodland or Meadow Mushrooms love damp, shaded areas or grassy fields. 

2. Observe Carefully Look on logs, leaf litter, near trees. Check color, gill patterns, smell. 

3. Identify Compare with your guidebook. Note cap shape, stem features, spore color. 

4. Record Take photos or notes, especially if uncertain. Consult references later. 

5. Respect Nature Don’t pick unless absolutely sure. Enjoy mushrooms in their habitat!
